I have a 5-6 month old boar and a 8 week old baby pair, they have been together around two weeks now and they seem to be getting on fine.
This morning I noticed what looked like some sort of barbering behaviour from the baby Remy to my older boar Reggie, which was really unusual as Reggie is not normally the type to allow anything like that. Reggie has short hair as opposed to long but that didn't stop Remy from digging in, he looked to go in really deep (near the skin) and I thought they were fighting but Reggie just lay there, which is not something I would expect from him. It seems to be mainly around his ear and face.
Then tonight I came out to show my mum Remys little trick, and I noticed Reggies behind ear was wet. I picked him up and had a look and we came to the conclusion he must have been peed on, but then when I was cleaning them Remy started grooming/barbering him again, right in the same spot his fur was wet. Reggie sat there for about 30 seconds while he "ate"/nibbled around his ears and cheeks before he popcorned away.
I checked him for bites but I could not see anything.
I have had one barberer before but his friend was definitely not as calm about it as Reggie is, and the barb-ee had much longer hair, which is why I am wondering if this stems from something else or if he is just allowing baby to get his stress out?
Is this grooming or barbering? Because its strange and unlike Reggie to allow this sort of thing but generally he didnt seem too bothered unless he accidentally nipped his ear.
