Hi,I'm new here.I have a baby guinea pig 2 weeks old with what looks like a hernia on his belly button.Ive never seen this b4, can any1 give me some info about this ? will it go ?He is eating and putting on weight
thanks

As far as I know, hernias don't fix themselves... I may be wrong.

Either way, I'd advise you to get the little guy to a vet to let them see what it is and fix it! :)

Hernias are quite common behind the belly button (my mum has one there)

No they don't go on their own - I should know because when I was eight I had to have a operation due to a large Hernia right by my 'lady parts' still have the scar to this day. My OH calls it a 'comet' lol

Anyways with my mum her hernia doesn't need to be touched and it hasn't grown whereas in the space of a year mine grew massive and was when operated on.

I had a Inguiral hernia which is when a part of the intestine slips through a weakness in the abdominal wall at the groin area.
I had a slit cut into me - a few inches and the intestine is pushed backed through the wall and stitched up.

I'd keep an eye and possibility take him to the vets - are you sure its def a hernia? If so its most likely an umbilical hernia.
