Baby guinea pigs and their teeth - advice needed pls

Can anybody please give me details of the growth stages of baby guinea pigs teeth, from birth through to weaning?

Seems a strange question but we have some babies born at only 9am this monring. When I picked one up to check it was ok it bit me, hard! On inspection it's teeth are already long.

gosh i can not help you there as i've never had mini's at home

Babies are born with fully grown teeth and can eat hay etc... right away. They should be in proportion with their mouths obviously... rolleyes

Babies teeth must be fully formed because I've witnessed them eating veg and hay within a few hours and the other thing which makes me think so is the nips I've also recieved soon after the birth

hmm ok, thanks guys. I obviously knew they could nibble, having seen others eat hay and pellets within a couple of days but I must say I was shocked at the power of their bite.

yeap they have a right set of teeth on them from day one, if you think about it some of the pallets are pretty solid, and I'm guessing in the wild they would come across pretty solid/hard food and they need to be able to eat it stright off really, the teeth are also very strong and I find it really fasinating looking at babies teeth lol
