So I just got a baby from my animal shelter. He looks to be only a few months old, not past 6. Ziggy, my white Abby, when I put them together, he doesn’t really do anything. He’s not really frozen but he is interested in other things. Baby will lay next to him and he will sit there a little stiff, maybe a little tense, and do nothing. Sometimes they will Wheek. They’re not exactly bonded but they’ve never fought before. Is this a good sign? Ziggy just literally wants to nap, eat and that’s it. He’s a lazy boy. He’s a little stiff with the baby. The baby is amazing though. He is a little boar and can be dominant. Ziggy is quite submissive but he can get annoyed. So Baby has the purring going on and will chase. Fur hasn’t flown between the two. There was an incident with another guinea pig when I tried to bond baby with another but other than that, that’s it. The baby is a little noodle and can nap practically anywhere. I love him so much. I really hope these two can bond.
I think it’s a thing where Ziggy is the big brother and Baby is the annoying little brother, and looks for comfort with anyone he can come in contact with. (Me and Ziggy.)
Is this normal? Will Ziggy be able to calm down? Ziggy has always been kind of tense. He’s not really one to relax like Baby. Here’s a picture I caught of Ziggy laying his head on Baby for a few moments.
