So I just got a baby from my animal shelter. He looks to be only a few months old, not past 6. Ziggy, my white Abby, when I put them together, he doesn’t really do anything. He’s not really frozen but he is interested in other things. Baby will lay next to him and he will sit there a little stiff, maybe a little tense, and do nothing. Sometimes they will Wheek. They’re not exactly bonded but they’ve never fought before. Is this a good sign? Ziggy just literally wants to nap, eat and that’s it. He’s a lazy boy. He’s a little stiff with the baby. The baby is amazing though. He is a little boar and can be dominant. Ziggy is quite submissive but he can get annoyed. So Baby has the purring going on and will chase. Fur hasn’t flown between the two. There was an incident with another guinea pig when I tried to bond baby with another but other than that, that’s it. The baby is a little noodle and can nap practically anywhere. I love him so much. I really hope these two can bond.
I think it’s a thing where Ziggy is the big brother and Baby is the annoying little brother, and looks for comfort with anyone he can come in contact with. (Me and Ziggy.)

Is this normal? Will Ziggy be able to calm down? Ziggy has always been kind of tense. He’s not really one to relax like Baby. Here’s a picture I caught of Ziggy laying his head on Baby for a few moments.2DD86E9C-2314-4E34-A9DB-4963C188463F.webp

Sounds normal to me. I don’t think all pigs laze as well as others. I think that’s what you mean but I’m not sure 🤷🏾‍♀️😁

I’m just trying to figure out if Ziggy will ever get comfortable staying with Baby haha.

I’m sure he will. How long have they been together?

Sorry I accidentally hit enter lol.

Ziggy, Robin (zigs And Rob are bonded) And Bowie (I call Bowie “Baby” because he’s the baby.) were all in the same cage. They actually were fine, I was really happy they got along. Everything seemed to be going well after like, 3 or 4 days and then Robin and Bowie got into a nasty fight last night. I separated everyone from Robin, the culprit and now I’ve just gotten Ziggy and Bowie out, they’re eating together currently. I hear purring and squeaking every now and again but Ziggy doesn’t seem to do anything. Like I said he’s very tense. Then again it could be the issue of He came from a pet smart in a glass tank with a bunch of other piggies he didn’t know so he’s always been just tense. Not my choice, I didn’t adopt him from there. I took him in from another family...
Bowie is a tiny thing and he will just follow Ziggy around purring like a big man. No flying fur. The only way to really know is to see what happens.

And I know, 3 boys in one cage is a dream that’s mostly unrealistic but I tried.

As long as no blood then they’re ok together. Given his background he may not quite have adapted to a cushty life yet.

They're very cute. When we had baby Leela and adult Hadley, Leela used to snuggle up next to her all the time. Not every pig lets down their guard and relaxes as much as some do, but it seems like this pair is doing well so far.

Ziggy gets along swell with pretty much everyone. He’s such a sweetheart!
