I have 2 4ish week old boars who have been separated from mum a week or so ago and are living together fine. I now have another baby boar from my second litter who needs separating on Tuesday from mum and 2 sisters.

Can I put him in with the other 2 boars? It seems a shame to house him on his own while he is so little (he was the runt of the litter and is only just 240g)

He is going to be boar dating with Katie Krafter's lonely boar when he is old enough! :))

You can put them together, but you have to be aware that you will upset the existing hierarchy. It is very rare for trios to make it through the hormonal months without separation; most likely you will get either two boars ganging up on the third or one boar bullying the other two.

Perhaps you'd rather look for an older "uncle piggy" in a reputable rescue for your single boy? That way, you avoid having both boys hitting the hormones at the same time. https://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=209994852075231951564.0004b8fd9391b4257d8eb&msa=0

It would only be temporarily until Katie's boar is well again and ready for dating and my wee man is old enough to try dating....not expecting them to get to the hormonal stage before then! I'm not intending on keeping the boys (we are a girly house here!) just keeping them until they are old enough to go to new homes....anyone wanting 2 lovely little boars?

In that case, I would give it a try; it is much better for your single boy to have company for the time being!

It worked! I now have 3 little boys all living happily together (for the time being!) There was some nudging, rumbling etc but the older ones are letting the wee one to the food bowl, water bottle etc so they must be ok with him!

Thanks for all your help.
