Adult Guinea Pig
A few days ago, I had a phone call at work from a lady who had bought two sows from a local agricultural show and didn't know who to call for advice, and a friend recommended calling my place. Both were pregnant - one had 3 healthy babies and the other had a single baby.
Mum was ignoring the single baby and so the lady had begun to hand feed her. She was alert and happy, but had no movement in her legs at all - her hind end would just shake. The lady brought her in and gave her to me to hand rear. I took her to the vets, who unfortunately confirmed that she had some form of severe spinal chord damage and would never recover use of her legs, so I made the heart wrenching decision to have her PTS.
Hardest thing I have ever had to do - she was so pretty and was so talkative and happy, she just had no chance of ever walking. Just two days old
