Hi All,
My female guinea, Squeaks, had babies 5 weeks ago; 2 males and 1 female.

When I introduced one of the 5-week old male babies to it's father guinea pig named Gus, the baby constantly attacks him & refuses to submit. The baby is chattering & even bites. I'm in total shock because I assumed a baby guinea (5 weeks old) would naturally submit to an older & much bigger male.
Any suggestions on why this is happening & if there's anything I can do? Does anyone know why the baby is so aggressive? The baby is even yawning to show his teeth. I've never heard of this kind of behavior coming from a 5 week old male guinea pig to an older male. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Normally very young babies do submit to an older boar. Babies want to belong and like the guidance of an older boar. It’s generally only once they become teenagers that things can turn between them. However, there is always going to the odd cases which things don’t go to plan given everything comes down to character compatibility.

Sorry, lots of questions coming as it would be helpful to have more background.

Was the introduction done on neutral territory?
When did the introduction take place?

Were the baby boars separated from mum at three weeks of age/250g?

You say you tried one baby with dad - why didn’t you put both baby boars with dad? Boars can only live in pairs for the long term (once they hit their teens) but as youngsters they are usually ok as a trio (although character compatibility being the vital factor) as both babies benefit from the guidance of an older piggy and the other baby boar would also need companionship. I’m just wondering what happened with the other baby boar really? Did he get on ok with dad?
Can you try just keeping the two baby boars together, leave baby daughter with mum and leave dad on his own in his own cage but alongside for interaction through the bars?
Do you plan on neutering dad and after the six week wait, bonding him back with mum and daughter? The two baby boars can live together assuming they have compatibility once the teens hit.
