Hi guys havent posted here in a while been finishing off the dreadded dissertation and just got back from holiday.
I woke up this morning and found a baby mouse in my bathroom, he seems quite happy to sit on my hand and ive made him a little home but dont know what to try him on food wise. I remember a fourm on here a while back but cant seem to find it again....has anyone got any tips for how to look after him?
Ive tried: diluting milk with water and feeding via seringe.
mashing my guinea pig pellets with water.
a ickle peice of chocolate

Thanks :)

i have had mice and i also have rats now so i could **** give a few ideas,
it depends on how young the mouse is but it should be able to eat solids
for weight gain and also most rats/piggies/mice love it try corn kernals i used it to put much needed weight on my girls,or if to young to eat on its own you can blend corn kernals and feed off a spoon

they virtually eat most veg that piggies and rats do the most appetising i have found are corn, carrot, seeds for weight gain, leafy green veges, very plain cracker biscuits(no salt),and some healthy cereals are good too x

Hi guys thanks for the information, going to re-read the thread and search out some corn...not sure if hes onto solids yet but has had a little of the watered milk and licked a bit of soggie porridge oat.
Going to see if hes interested in corn in next hour or so, letting him chill out for a while in the quiet.

yeah guess so, he was just so friendly and seemed not to be bothered at all about being held...infact seemed to like being in my hand more then the floor...guess I'm wamer. as when i went to put him in his new home took forever to get him to walk off my hand.
anyways keeping an eye on him crushed some corn and made a paste wasnt that interested but ive left it in his house for him to sniff at and sample later.

It was my baby mouse that the other poster guided you too and sadly my baby mouse didn't make it although he had no fur and his eyes were closed. I agree with the other 'mouse keeper' (more than one of us then !) that he should probably be able to eat. I now have over 50 mice and at the moment I have 8 babies and a very sick mouse. The sick mouse I've been keeping alive for weeks now by feeding him lactol and with a 1ml syringe. I think he is over the sickness now but the little will not eat. He is just so used to getting the lactol milk from me. Anyway .... point I am making is that lactol will help keep him going if he is not eating and will fatten him up is he is picky eating. Millet is great for fattening them up also. And sunflower hearts and dried mealworms (all available from local supermarket).

Good luck .... any pictures yet ?

Poor little chap - perhaps he had some kind of internal injury, or maybe was just too young. But bless you for all you did for him - at least he was warm and cosy with you.
