Baby pig nails

Hello,
I've found that Felix's nails are very sharp, but they are also very small so I can't cut them with the clippers (nor do I want to try due to fear of catching his little toes!).
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to smooth them a bit. I remember a vet once suggesting that a nail file works well on small guinea pigs when I was having trouble with Alfie and Archie's nails when they were very young. Would a nail file be suitable?

if you have an outside run and a patio/path you could put him on there for a bit. The hard surface would wear the edges off quite well I'd have thought

I was going to say the same, I have done it with all my pigs and rabbits.

i used a very fine emery board on mine when they had needle nails as babys
