I am going to be taking McMac boar dating after I get back from Manchester this weekend and I have been talking to two forum users that have pigs for McMac to meet. One has had a sow give birth and the other has more mature pigs. I am hoping to meet both with McMac, but I am worried about babies. Because Momo (rip) was a baby and McMac was older and then Momo got to that age where he started to try and dominate McMac and they had the odd scuffle and I am worried that might happen again and McMac and his new cagemate wont get on :( what would you suggest? I will take my time in seeing who McMac best gets along with but if he were to only be happy with a baby should I pick a baby instead of him being alone?

I would see how he goes and how he likes best. There is no reason why he cant get on with a younger piggie or a more mature one. It depends on the two piggies personalities. Just like humans they are all different. Just a thing to consider is like you said, once a baby reaches pubity he might try it on for dominance, but like i said, all piggies are different.

Sorry I'm not much of a help.

I would go for the older boys first - or even try to find a rescue that has a very laid back, submissive fully adult boar themselves. That would be your best chance.

As you say yourself, babies grow up and hit the big hormones!

I took one of my boars to a boar dating rescue and we had to try him with young boys around the 8-12 week mark, they have been living with each other ever since and the bubba is now a fully grown long haired handsome lad.

Good luck with whatever you find for him.
