Baby Piggie with black extra toe!

Hi guys i have 2 inbred babies ( not by me might i add!) they have both got extra toes but the toes are hanging on by the tiniest bit of skin bit like a skin tag on humans. when i showed the vet he said not to worry worse case scenario it would either drop off or come off and the little bubba wouldn't bleed hardly from the wound at all if it happened and wasn't giving him any discomfort jokingly i suggested tying string round (have done that with skin tag before) and he said it wasn't a bad idea really it was all said lightheartedly obviously but he said it wasn't worth removing it but it was up to me. basically on one of them a toe has gone black the blackness hasn't spread anywhere than the little toe have tried to call the vet but it is engaged what shoud i do? would you steralise scissors and nip it off or leave it to come off on it's own? the skin between is as thin as a thread of cotton what do you think? :{
 
just to clarify i didn't tie string round it or anything! just trying to explain the vets thoughts on the extra toe issue! sorry for the confusion please can some one help?
 
oooh interesting, ive had tags and tied cotton round, but its different when its someone/something else he he he

Hi Claire how are the babies doing, I cant beleive the extra toes are still there ewww :... I dont really know what I would do I hope someone on here can help. I'm hoping that my oh can drop the run off to you very soon. Take care

ooh its a hard one to decide on, i dont think id be brave enough to cut it off, if its not bothering them i would be more inclined to leave it alone, but I'm not an expert.

Hiya hun sorry i haven't text thanks so much for the offer and delivery of the run! gutted i couldn't get it in my little car. bubbas and marmalade are doing really well marm's coat is all flat and long but with a little crest so not sticking up like pickle. pumpkin and squash do have the mid back quiff like pickle though! :)

p.s freddie is a totally different pig fuoll of beans, soppy and wheeks loudest all the time :)

the toe is bleeing slightly but definately 'dead' poor lillt bubba just worried if it gets torn off it might 'rip' further up his paw if you get what i mean. :{
 
Is the toe still on this morning Claire? I'd pop him to the vet today so it can be cut off safely, it does sound like the extra toe is dead and I too would worry about it being ripped off. Let us know how you get on. :)
 
sorry been offline all day but toe is still there doesn't look totally dead yet but it will be soon i think. did get to speak to the vet and he said he would be inclined to leave it for now but might see how he is in the morning and maybe pop him in. looks a bit more swollen tonight so will see. doesn't bother him don;t think he can feel it actually.
 
Update

just to let you know the toe isn't there anymore and unless you look carefully you can't see where it was and he is all happy thanks for you advice guys . :)
