i took them the vets today to have a check up, i just wanted to make sure they were ok after ordeal.the vet was lovely, checked them throughly said they both looking well.they are both boys, i needed that confirming as i first thouht they were girls but then after seeing pictures started thinking they were maybe boys.
he weighed them both pig one is 261g and pig two is 231g. He said they are about right for their age, he said they are approximately 6-8weeks old, if not a little under weight but because ive had them 5 days and theyve only just been weighed he said we dont know how much theyve gained in a week and is happy that ive seen them eat well.he advised regulary weighing them and trying to feed them up a bit.
i mentioned that i was concerned they werent using the water bottle and knocked over water i put in the cage.like Graham alreday suggested to me he said give them watery veg like cucumber and wash the leaves leaving water on and they should get enough water from that.
he laughed when i mentioned they were bedded on fleece :)) apparantly hes not heard that before and thinks they are lucky pigs :)
He kindly waived the consultation fee for me because he said i was very kind to do what i have done for them especially when it was xmas eve they were dumped.he was sadly telling me that theres been far too many cases off animals dumped this past week, people like to get rid before xmas 8...

Wonderful update hun, great vet to waive the fee and I love the pics they are so cute x)

AWWW - You have a lovely vet!

And he is right: those boys must think that they have found paradise!

Don't be worried about them not drinking. Youngsters often don't! Most veg contain water; some like cucumber, lettuce or celery are mostly water and your boys will get enough water trough that. It has taken Taffy four months until she discovered the bottle and I had a guinea pig once who just didn't like to drink from the bottle or a bowl and got all her fluid from veg all her life long.

Awww what lovely baby guinea pigs! x) How could someone dump those gorgeous two?! 8... They must be...inbreeding :)) You have a nice vet! I wish my vet would waive the vet fee when i go with my piggies! I was charged £10 just for the vet to talk to us! :o You are really nice for looking after these babies and keeping them safe. Thank goodness that it was you they were dumped with and not someone who wouldn't bother with them. xx

Great photos they are so cute and small. I still cant believe that someone would leave such adorable helpless pigs on your door step!

What a fab vet for not charging you. :)

Are you going to keep them?

Thats great new about the babies. What a wonderful vet to waive the fee for you. This is truly a christmas miracle. How fortunate that you discovered them when they did. You should call them:(|) lucky and miracle!

thanks everyone and thank you for the much appreciated advice you gave me when i found them.
are their weights ok?ive been trying to find info on babies weights but cant find anything.
thanks wiebke, its good to know that some piggies just dont drink much, i have been giving them cucumber everyday and leaves which i wash, so hopefully that is enough for them.

ps dont tell Mac and Rascal the baby pigs have been sitting on their new chair :))

How could anyone dump these two lovely boys? I've gotta say, thank god they found their way to you. They are absolutely beautiful and remind me of our Pheobe and Ruby when they were babes. I would treasure these two if I were you. ^)^)^)^)^)^)

Glad to hear the babies are doing well, Sarah. They're beautiful, and so tiny!

Good on your vet for waiving the fee, that's really nice xx>>>
