Hey
So I have a 6 week and 7 week old guinea pigs, both are loving there excel blackberry flavoured Nuggets! But won't seem to eat much of there veg I give them? They seem to have a few nibbles then that's it! could it be that they don't like the taste of them? I took the nuggets away for a little while (couple hours) and left them with their veg and once again they nibbled a little but that's it. What could I do to get them to eat more veggies? I don't believe there eating enough! but I don't no if I'm just comparing that to my older pigs that will eat every crumb! x

I would just stick at it and give them their veg and pellets as normal. They will probably eat the veg eventually when they get used to it. And as they are babies they probably won't eat as much as a fully grown piggy.
Good luck.

I didn't think they were meant to leave their parent till 8 weeks.

They're probably not used to many different types of veg. I would keep offering a couple of different ones each day and once they start eating that then start introducing a variety. Good luck, I hope get on ok x

Thank you, I don't think the owner who had them from birth gave them veggies so maybe they're just not used to them! least they are trying them I suppose! thank you for the advise :)

I think boars have to be seperated from mothers earlier because they could make her pregnant ect! but I'm not 100% sure on that one! I was just told that I could have them

Boars get separated at 3 weeks, if she's not given veg before just take it slowly, you don't want any upset tummys with too much change. It's great they're eating nuggets, how are they getting on with hay?

Aww. Little piggies. Glad they have found a caring new home.

Thank you :) Yep they love the nuggets probably because it's blackberry flavoured! And they eat loads of Hay, I don't nornally like using it as a bedding because I think it's unhygenic but they love to burrow in it so I'm letting them :) and that's true I didn't really think of that maybe it's too much too soon! I'll cut back a little and give them time to adjust to veggies! Diddy piggies!
