Hello, I've had baby Tilda for a few days now and today her poops are all... not exactly watery but like a paste (sorry! That's all I can describe it as) and not as dark as they usually are. I've got 6 piggies now and this is the first that anyone hasn't has normal poos.

She seems to be eating leaves and nuggets fine but in herself I think she seems a little lethargic, it may just be her personality though as I've only had her a few days.

Should I be worried or has she just ate too much grass or a veg that she's never had before?

Thanks

Please:
- take her off any fresh veg asap. Weigh her daily at the same time in the feeding cycle and if necessary, start syringe feeding her and also make sure that she has enough to drink.
- see a vet promptly; the lethargy is worrying; she is very likely feeling rather awful. I hope that the poos will firm up again within 24 hours.
- always be very careful when introducing veg to a guinea pig that you don't know whether it (AND its mum if it is a baby) has ever had veg in its life; diarrhea is very common in guinea pigs whose digestive system is not used to them.

Posted this on Sunday evening with intentions of ringing the vet on Monday morning. So I put her into her bed with a warm snuggle safe and took away the veg. Went to check her the in the morning and unfortunately she had passed away with poop and blood around her bum and discarge around her mouth.

I've thoroughly cleaned the hutch and had her 5 sisters checked by the vet today and they are all healthy thank goodness.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Rest in peace baby Tilda x

I'm so sorry for that sudden loss! But on the bright side! None of your other piggies were affected! Keep a close eye on them for a while x

RIP TILDA! she gone over the rainbow bridge now...
