My girls had their check up yesterday from my friend! I had a phone call last night! Luckily they are both girls.... However, it turns out they are a lot younger than I first thought, my mum is not a guinea pig person, obviously because they are bigger than a hamster they must be adult...! She was told (or she says) they were handed to the school as the child got bored, but it seems they are unwanted babies, we don't know age, but anything between 8-10 weeks, they are a good weight (an this is what my friend is basing their age on) and healthy so my friend is not worried!

My mum now has a list of questions to grill the donator with when she spots her tomorrow at the school gate, I've asked her to give my number or email as it would be easier if I could speak to her.

The questions I can think of are:
  • How old are they?
  • Were there any others in the litter, and were they boys? When were they separated?
  • Does she have the father or are these surprise babies i.e. pet shop error.
  • What have they been fed on since birth, have they had the right nutrition (and I've given her a list of examples). Even though I had told my mum to slowly introduce veg for me anyway.
There is also a sneaky question about the current status of the parents... what are her plans, I'm hoping she will contact me though so I can ask myself, is there anything else you think I should ask?

:xd: And me! I'm really looking forward to actually meeting them on Thursday/Friday depending on what time I get back :yahoo:

I got a phone call today from the woman who handed the 2 babies that I have to the school. She seemed quite friendly and didn't mind that I wanted to speak to her.
It turns out that she bought a pair of girls from "our favourite pet shop" as a birthday present for one of her daughters, long story sort, one of them was getting bigger and bigger until eventually she gave birth, only to my 2 so they have not been anywhere near any boys! They were born on 30th Jan, so they will be 10 weeks this week... I think that's right :xd:
They had had some veg but not much, my mum is still slowly introducing them too it.
The two guinea pigs she has sound like they are doing ok, they live inside already. And to be honest her daughter seems quite responsible, my mum can believe that so I'm not concerned. I told her about this forum, but she doesn't have a computer, but will try and have a look on her phone.

Thursday cant come quickly enough, I want to get home and meet them, I've already named one Mrs Aunty Brenda  but the other is"TBC" (I just cant decide yet! :hmm:), I'm fed up of lonely hotel and booooring courses!

How exciting to get new pigs! I would make sure you weigh them weekly, you should do this anyway but as they are new to you its even more important. 6-8 weeks is about the time they say its ok to rehome so that's good news that they are not under that age! Looking forward to some pigtures

Sounds like your two little girls are checking out well. I am sure that this must be one of the slowest wekks in your life!
