I have 2 male piggies one around 8 months old and the younger is just over 3 months.

The younger one has just started rumbling this morning and every time he does it they look like they are about to start fighting and get right up in each others face.

Is there anything I shill be concerned about?

Hi and welcome!

The testicles have just started to descend in your baby boy while your two oldest are currently in one of the more homonally challenged phases of the teenage months. Please be aware that boar trios of all ages more often than not fail and that the fail rate in hormonal sub-adult trios is up to 90%. The teenage phase that is characterised by huge testosterone spikes lasts from around 4 months (it can happen a little bit earlier) to 14 months of age.

Please take the time to read these detailed guides here, so you know what to look out for, what you can do and what your options are if there is fall-out at some point. The next few months are going to be on the challenging side for you. Sadly, far too many shop personnel is not aware of basic and important guinea pig facts and new owners with a happy boar couple are too often tempted to add a third because they are so enchanted with their boys.

I have only got 2 boars they bonded really well but blackjack the younger one just started to strut this morning but they seem to have settled down now but I am keeping a careful eye on them.

Their new 4 x 2 c and c cage turned up today so I'm getting that set up for them and hopefully more space should keep them happy

With past experience I'd say 4x2 is a bit small for your boys, Is it possible to extend to 5x2? Sorry bud, just want to give your boys the best chance they have of succeeding :tu: The next few months is critical as they'll be getting quite hormonal piggies and no doubt keep you on you toes at times :D

Sorry, it's a bit busy here. The guide links I have given you still very much apply. You will find all the tips in there what you can do with both boys going through the teenage months.

I had read all the guides before about bonding and what not and they have both been fine they took to one anther really quick and they don't like to be separated. We took our time with bonding them back in December when we got them toffee apple the older established his dominance early and Blackjack just accepted it. Normally when Toffee Apple has a rumble strut the both have a massive giddy fit running all over the place and popcorn like crazy. Blackjack strutting seems to cause a bit of tension but the seems to get on after a bit of an arguement. Like now they are both snuggled up to each other.

The Cage we have also has a 1 x 2 loft for added space and the fact that blackjack loves to climb.

All the best for getting them through the iffy weeks. Usually by 8-10 months of age, bickering/winding up is very normal, but fall-outs are much rarer. The most incompatible pairings have already split. As long as your boys can get away from each other if necessary, you should be fine.

They seem to have settled in to a routine of rumbling and chase games and are quite happy together.

The like to snuggle up together now and then and sit together and eat so I'm guessing that it's just hormones flying a all over the place,

It certainly sounds that way, hopefully it will settle down as they get older
