Little sweep has a small scab around her mouth. I am thinking it MAY be due to apples and tomatoes. However I want to know what I could do if it were fungal?

She's 5 weeks old and 350g.

Also ivermectin in babies? Can it be done?

Thanks in advance!

lisa you can use gorgeous guineas lavender and myrrh lotion on mini pigs i had to when patch was 2 weeks old x

hi Lisa i have used ivomec in guineas this young 1 drop, but only in severe cases..They were fine!

regard the scab around the mouth do you have any daktarin oral in that you could apply to the sore?twice a day..

I agree with both Suzanne and Claire's suggestions re the scab.

Regards the ivermectin, the minimum age I would dose routinely from is 8 weeks. For treating mites, only in severe cases would I dose a pig under 6 weeks. In both cases (routine and active treatments) I would give half the dose until the pig is 6 months old - so 0.05ml ivermectin and, if I chose to give Panacur, I would give 0.2ml Panacur.

I used the ivermectin that's for hamsters on my 4 week old rescue baby who was riddled with mites and she was fine and it did the job.

i tried lav and myrrh on her because she had fungal too, but it didn't clear it and she is now experiencing the joys of shampoo baths ... and doing well fo it, I must say.

All the best.
