Hello everyone,

I got a baby guinea pig boar yesterday from pets at home and I noticed his poo is a caramel colour.

He is 2 months old so the poo is pretty small. He also seems to be eating and drinking but hes only eating grass, he hasnt touched his dry nuggets.

Is there anything to worry about?

All help appreciated!

Feed him unlimited amounts of timothy hay, never let it run out, and make sure you are feeding vit c veg to prevent scurvy. Red bell peppers are brilliant.

Also are you thinking about getting him a friend? Guinea pigs shouldnt be kept alone 👍

Hi!

Please make sure that your boy is eating hay, first and foremost! This should make over 80% of the daily food intake and is vital for . About 10% should be veg and herbs and only about 5% or less (i.e. 1-2 tablespoons a day, the larger amount for piggies under 4 months if you wish to) should be nuggets.
It is likely that the food groups are not correctly balanced, but that can easily be corrected. If he is not happy with a new brand of pellets, then don't worry; he'll get used to new ones.

If in any doubt, please have your new piggies vet checked:

Is the boy a single piggy or does he have company of his own kind, as all guinea pigs should have since they are group animals and not wired to live on their own?
