Huxley has a small sore on the lower rim of his eye and in the skin below, and also had a tiny scab on his ear - the vet reckoned it was early stages of mites so the poor little piglet, after making pals with the vet and rubbing noses with him, had to have a nasty jab, and he squealed. :'(

Also found something lumpy in a patch of red in Roly's cage - put it on a tissue and took it with me to the vets - they think it could be calcium build up so poor Roly has to go in for an x-ray. :'( His wee seems clear though.

poor little boys - they are such lovely little things, I hate it when they are not well.

really sorry your boys aren't well, :'( :'( :'( hoping they get better soon. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: vets can be really mean they cuddle your piggy then jab them or take their temps etc, i too hate it when my girls are sick or if i think they are. sending hugs and cuddles to you and your boys :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: girls send :-* :-* :-*

Thanks Mary, I can't believe I was back at the vets again!
Poor little Huxley is so chilled out he actually dozed off in the waiting room, then was enjoying being tickled by the vet until he gave him his jab! poor little baby.

This does not sound like mites to me.Why did the vet inject Ivermectin?,as you say,it is painful. There is now a topical version that can be put on the skin..This is just as affective.

Calcinated urine is white not red.I take it that it was blood you found?,did the lumpy stuff look like flesh?.

Possibly he has scratched it.I would leave it alone unless it gets worse. Are there any scabs on his back.and does he have any dandruff?.

Does Roly live by himself and is he acting normally.Has he lost weight?.I take it that he has not been crying and straining when urinating?.

When you found the blood was it dark or light and how much?.Did you check his pads and genital area to see if there was any blood?.

I've been checking Huxley regularly for scabs as he does seem to scratch himself a bit, but his coat is fine, no scabs and no dandruff.

Roly lives by himself, he was squeaking a while back when pooping so we took him to the vets who gave him something to help him go and he seemed fine. He seems to have put on a bit of weight - will weigh him again in a couple of days - he was 980g today - and also seems to be fine in himself, not crying or straining. His wee is clear/whiteish, when I cleaned him out today however there were a couple of smal patches of bright red. His bottom and feet are fine and clean..

It's such a strain when they're ill. You haven't had much luck healthwise have you! Hope all will be okay Katie.

I think he may have a renal stone. You will need to get an x ray done.Give him extra water with a syringe.

Thanks Julie. I just want them all to be well.

He's going for an x-ray on Tuesday Mary - he does drink a lot - almost 1 bottle a day sometimes - do I need to supplement this?
Thanks for the advice, poor Roly.

If he is drinking that much,no need to give extra.I do hope the vet will be able to find out what is wrong.

sending roly hugs and cuddles for his xrays tomorrow. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: will a stone show up on a xray? when zoe was sick they decided an ultra sound would be better as was told xrays don't show things like masses clearly. hoping all goes well, know we will be thinking of you and roly :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: poor huxley all happy and snoozing, rub noses and whamo! wonder how huxley will react the next time he goes to the vet, meaning wonder if he will rember the needle? girls send :-* :-* :-* wishing roly well for tomorrow. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

awwww (((huge hugs))) Hope your little ones get better :-* :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Thank you Mary and Cavy Love. I think a stone should show up on the x-ray.. does anyone know how they treat renal stones? Is it the same as a kidney stone?

I reckon Huxley will be the same chilled out self if he has to go back to the vets again - he is so tame, I can walk up to his cage, open it and stick my hand in and he won't usually run off but lets me stroke him. :smitten:

Ohh poor little piggies....sending lots of love to you and your little ones this week! :smitten:
