hey guys I have this fairly old guinea pig and i noticed her back leg stopped working. She doesn't eat much because recently a cage mate passed away. Do you think that is why? I know guineas are not good by themselves but we have gone through 2 with this one and she is the last one we are having. Anyone know what is up? just feel bad and I'm curious as to what is up

Please take your Guinea pig to the vet tomorrow for a diagnosis. It could be anything from an injury, arthritis, paralysis or a stroke.

Have you been weighin her to make sure he isn't losing weight if he's not eatin much? A Guinea pig off its food is serious as they need a constant food intake to prevent their guts from shutting down. If she is losing weight and not eatin please step in with syringe feeding Asap.

It sounds like she is also pining for a companion, which will make her life fairly miserable. If you aren't willing to get her a companion, have you thought about surrendering her to a rescue where she could be rehomed and have companionship again?

If you could add your location to your profile that would be great, we may be able to offer you more specific advice as to vets and rescue centres.

Not eating is a sign of illness, and also if it is something like arthritis it is painful.

At the very least she needs to go to the vet to get some pain relief medication.

When we take on a pet we have a duty of care to look after them, which includes taking them to the vet when they are ill, so please seek medical attention for her.
