Jasper seemed to getting over his recent URTI - had just had the last dose of his 2 week course of Baytril, however despite being on probiotics, I had noticed he seemed to be chasing Smudge round, and he appeared to be trying to get pooh from him to recolonise his gut.

Last night when I went to check on them at bed time, he was a bit hunched up and his abdomen seemed bloated, so I lifted him out, his tummy was soft and I could feel movement and he was eating hay so felt is was a mild bloat and safer to wait until mornign (our vets use a local animal hospital as out of hours and I wasn't sure what they were like on exotics)

Spoke to our vet this morning who suggested bringing him in this afternoon, he also felt the same as me, a touch of bloat, so has given him Metacam and Metclompramide, however he didn't have any oral metaclompramide and was wondering which was the best way to give him further doses, so I volunteered ! (Ex-midwife so used to giving injections) - the vet was happy with this so supervised me giving the first dose in the practice (that was a bit nerve wracking but managed ok) and I have come home with 3 further doses to give over the next few days.

Poor Jasper, hope he feels better soon. Your very brave giving injections. Lots of healing vibes to him

Awwww Jasper! Me and the furry brood send all our love and healing vibes x

He seems much brighter already - was squeeking for his tea within 10 minutes of getting home, has even been pop-corning since :)

What good news! Go Jasper! I couldn't give injections myself though, I have to shut my eyes when I see needles on the telly!

Jasper seems brighter in himself - he had 3 more injections of metaclopramide and is still on the metacam, however he still seemed slightly bloated last night, again I could feel movement in his gut and he was eating and pooing fine.

Any suggestions for managing this ? Obviously I am aware about cutting out 'gassy' veg and am happy to monitor is food and see what happens, while also being aware he is still slightly below the weight I would like.

Have read in some places about Infacol being used for bloat - has anyone used it with success (or not) - thinking it may be worth trying

It goes without saying that I will be straight back to the vets if hes gets worse but it seems fairly mild at the moment and he has been quite happy in himself today

Thanks
Andrea
