No idea why, but for the past few days he has been going under my bed (do not want). Hes never paid it any notice before, but this is annoying so I spent ages blocking up the gaps, and so he digs his way through, squeezing in tiny tiny gaps like a rat. Idk why he even wants to be under there, its soo dusty, he has a lovely cave i build for him to be in, its soft and dark and snuggley, and of course theres the hidey part within his cage if he wants.
I read somewhere that the Incas used to keep guinea pigs under their beds, mainly for warmth as the body heat of a herd of guineas would radiate up through the bed. I guess maybe being under the bed awakens some sort of ancient ancestral part of archie?

he is trying so hard, luckily the defenses are holding. Its very hard to clean under the bed, which is why i dont want him under it.

Who knows? perhaps he likes it even more now it's hard to get into, perhaps he thinks if he struggles to get in nothing else will manage to - therefore he'll be safe.
Or perhaps it's as you say, an awakened instinct from his ancestors.
Or perhaps he likes the feeling that you're right there too, albeit on the other side of the mattress.
Or perhaps he just like it - lots of space all to his-self?

yeah it's hard to clean under beds.... let's hope your defences stay strong! :)
