Yesterday Pickle gave me a warning bite... Here is how it started. I cleaned his cage and as ususal he dumped his food bowl. So I went in there to clean it up and he started to chatter with his teeth. Nothing new he always does this when I clean it up. Then he walked other to me, again nothing new he always comes to see what I'm doing. Then BAM! got me right between my middle and ring finger. He didn't make me bleed or anything. I tapped his nose and said NO! Bad Boy. Hes never done it before! I know he did it cause he likes being messy but boy he gave me a start.

if he didnt draw blood then he didnt want to hurt you, tapping a piggy on the nose is not very nice they are animals that don't undestand that we dislike that behaviourmallethead
i would give a small timeout if it really gets to being an issue but just remember they are guinea pigs that do alot of everything with there mouth and thats the way they are we can't punish them for it

Never tap a piggy on the nose as this is showing aggression towards him and he will in turn treat you like any other boar he would have had a fight with. He may turn more aggressive if you tap them back. We had a similar issue with one of our boars (Twinkle) where buy he would rather kick you with his hind legs.

Rather than tap him, you have to be more firm with handling, but not over firm obviously. You could also wear the tight fitting gardening gloves initially while settling him back down. Also shoo him backwards with the reverse of your hand as this gives them nothin to really bite at.

Also a spray bottle of water for behaviour control is very good.

Ooops, this has logged me in as Louise lol - Damn computers, message was from (PETCOOK)
