Bad Cages?

Hey, I've never been to this forum before but I'm trying to find some info and I can't find any.
I do not own any guinea pigs and I never have (I own hamsters) but I'm interested on getting a couple.
My issue is, as of right now floor space.
I've seen a few cages I like but I agree they are too small, I want to know more about the Rabbit 100 Double or Rabbit 80 Triple
Are these bad cages as such? Or are they just too small? And what about the multiple floors, is it okay?
I really want to do my research haha :)
 
Hello and welcome to the forum. The minimum cage size for two piggies is 120 cm by 60 cm but bigger is better. Often guinea pigs do not use ramps so personally I prefer to give one level. The best cage would be a c and c cage as you can make them any size you like. The minimum for c and c is 4 by 2. If you lack floor space then they can be made on a table.

I've seen the c and c but I don't think I really have the space, and I find unless you can make it huge I don't see the point, it can look a bit messy :( also they'd have to be covered because I have curious cats!
 
Oh you have cats. Then a closed cage makes sense. Do you know guinea pigs need two hours floor time daily? Will you have the space to do that?

Yeah I know this, the floor space for them to have floor time in isn't the issue, it's the cage space.
I kind of want to know, if they were out of the cage with me majority of the day would one of these cages still be an issue?

It does seem like a good option, I really need to look into more, do you have any good sites for it? :)
 
i wouldn't go any smaller than the 150 cages personally. i started off with one and once all their things are in, there isn't that much room left really. even with floor time, they need the minimum size cage :)

Yeah I did think this, it's been the same with my hamster cages. I'll have to keep on looking, thanks :)
 
If you google Little Friends Cage on EBay it will show their range but look for the 140 and 160. The 160 gives you internal measurement of 156cm x 71cm. Like I said I think C&C are best are you can built to the space you have and expand when you want and better value but the Little Friends 160 is a good alternative. (Although I never used it so can't attest for quality).

Space for piggies is addictive. The more I give mine the more I want to give them. So good to see them happy in a cage :)
 
Aw that's lovely to hear! Don't get me wrong I'd want them to have all the space they can get but I'm trying to see what I can do with the strange space I have in my room, I'm starting to think that I don't actually have the space :(

if you do not have the space i would just recommend holding off until you can get the proper amount of room, i know how it is but it really is worth it. i personally felt very guilty while i had my first 2 guineas with wood shavings and in a smaller cage than they should've ( i was waiting for my pay and was silly and uneducated) then switched to fleece and C&C cage . they won't have room to run and play, they just wouldn't be happy.

Don't worry I'm fully aware of this, that's why I wanted to find out some things before I thought more into it :)
I don't have the space unless I completely transform the room haha I'll be staying with my Hammies for now, thanks though :)
 
Maybe the Little Friends double storey finer cage would be good. You can find it on eBay. The reviews say it can house up to six guinea pigs but I would say 3 at a push!
