I had to pick up Hadley the other day during her free time running around because she was pulling on the carpet. Afterwards, it looked like there was a stain on the carpet that she was chewing at, until I took a closer look and saw that, in fact, the 'stain' was actually the bottom of the carpet showing through because she had actually pulled out a patch of carpet fibers and (presumably) eaten them. Luckily the carpet in that room is old and needs replacing anyhow. I think I will get laminate there next... surely she can't manage to eat that...

Laminate can be tricky for them to get purchase on - vinyl is great. It's like spongey laminate with grip so they don't go sliding across the floor like bambi on ice!

Naughty Hadley!
We have a wood floor, Peanut has difficulty walking on it, he tries to do what can only be described as swim. I put down a large fleece blanket for him and as he doesn't go very far these days he does ok. The others trot around quite happily. The floor is an advantage as you can just wipe up wee.

Part of why we have kept the cruddy carpet for so long is because I thought that Sundae (my elderly pig) would have a really hard time adjusting to it. Hopefully the two younger ones will adapt okay. I am planning to cut out a piece of the capet to lay down in their 'room' (I block off both ends of a hall and 90% of their floor time is puttering around in there when I put out food and toys.) Hopefully that will minimize any sliding related mishaps!

Trudie my skinny is a for pulling out fibers of carpets, rugs, beds. She's obsessed!

I have outside piggies and in the winter when it rains/is too cold for the run and its cleaning out day, I was thinking of putting them in the kitchen while I do this delightful job (love it - not). I was wondering how they would get on with the vinyl flooring in there now I know that they will be fine thanks @Kallasia!:D
