Well got a call from my GP today who got the results of Maeve's xray and barium test on monday. My GP said so far they have noticed that maeve had a narrow windpipe, the extent wont be confirmed until camera is passed.

Well now I am faced with "will piggies make this worse". My GP said the hair and dust could irritate her and even though its not making her worse it wont be making her better either. I love my piggies so so much and dont want to loose them but my daughters health and happines comes first. I dont know what to do now and am now in tears. I couldn't put them onto free ad sites as good knows who would get them and I would hate to "dump" them on a rescue centre as I know how full they are. Any one got any ideas? x

aww I'm so sorry your in this situation, you could put some pics, ages, and info on the pigs on the forum? with your area lol and maybe some people will be able to help out :)

Oh no Sarah I'm sorry to hear that but of course Maeve's health must come first.

As Kelly said pop some pics on and if you do hve to rehome then there will be lots of people here who may be able to help. (((hugs)))

Currently Amy, Saffron and Millie are all very happy living together. Layla, olivia and the boys are all very happy together to. I really dont want them to leave us at all in the slightest. Speaking to GP again tomorrow and he has spoke to the consultant dealing with Maeve and if it comes to it then I will need to find new loving homes (I am hoing not) but if it comes to it here are some pics and their dates of birth. I am in Edinburgh x

This is Lenny and Carl both born 4th October 2007

Oh no I'm so sorry to hear that.

Might it be worth getting a second opinion first if you can? They've given quite a vague answer, it might make it worse but it might not...it may be that they are trying to think of something as they are not sure what is wrong? Sorry if that sounds really pesemistic but a friend of mine was in hospital recently for a long time and they no idea what was wrong with her. They couldn't figure it out so they tried every excuse under the sun, trying to pin it on things that had no effect. Unfortunately it's given me a bad-ish opinion on some Doctors :-\.

If not then ditto to the above, your daughters health has to comes first. I'm sure there are people here who can help :)

My GP said he is expecting a call my the consultant by 5.30pm tonight and he'll call me round about 10am tomorrow morning to discuss what has been said. So keeping my fingers crossed they dont have to go but if they do I hope to find them very loving homes. They are all really lovely and friendly and my house will seem to quiet with out and it will break my heart so so much. But I need to think of Maeve. Put the info up now so if it is bad new tomorrow morning then I can really get the ball rolling in finding new homes. x

awww sweetie hope its good news for you and Maeve tomorrow if not I am sure everyone here will help find your furbabies a loving home

Sorry to hear this. Are they indoor pigs at the moment? Could they move outside into a shed instead? Just a thought. Really hope you don't have to rehome them, but like the others said it would be good to get more details. My mother was told to get rid of all of our pets when I was younger because I had very bad skin reactions to them but we kept them and I sort of became immune to them!

Fingers crossed

we stay in a flat so know where for them to go outside. I am keeping my fingers crossed they dont need to go but if they do I amhoping on here is the best way forward. Even if i have to re-home some and cut my number down..... anything to help my daughter. x

Oh poor you - if you do need to rehome them at least if it was to someone on the forum you could get regular updates, and if it was local you could still see them or offer to have them back when they're on holiday. Your daughter's health has to come first - but let's hope it's all ok!

My guinea pigs keep my sain, give me somethinf for me thats not the kids or the house work.. Keeping my fingers crossed. I now know my piggies inside out and I know who would be happiest with who and who (if possible) i could keep. x

I'm sorry you may have to rehome your piggies, and I'm really glad we only keep boys, because I may have had to have whisked Olivia away from you! Hopefully you will find another solution and not have to rehome, fingers crossed.

hope you don't have to rehome them, but maeve comes first :( Hope maeve isn't too bad :( (hugs)

Oh no Sarah but I agree your daughter is your main concern, I would have to find new home's for my piggies if it came to either of my childen's health.
I hope it doesn't come down to it tho hun, fingers crossed for you x :smitten:

So sorry to hear your news. I myself am asthmatic and have been advised not to keep fury animals :-\ BUT I do anyway. It's not too bad though because my pigs are outdoor and the gerbils and hamsters aren't exactly big. Good luck for tomorrow and fingers crossed that you can keep them. I agree with the others though that your daughter must come first. Sending hugs xx

thankfully my mum is ok with the guineas she's asthmatic too.

i really hope you dont have to rehome them... :(

hope your daughter is ok...

So sorry to hear this I would get the doctors to be more specific tho I have a narrow windpipe (they have to use child sized throat thyingys when i am operated on) although I am not asthmatic but have the biggest load of hay/fur/hair in my house and it is only the long hairs that affect my oh's asthma. I hope your daughter feels better soon of course you must do what is best for her.
Good luck to you all

Sarah, I am so so sorry to hear this. You must, as you say, do the best thing for your little girl - don't worry about the rehoming I am sure we will be able to help you out if it comes to you having to rehome. Please don't worry - just let me know if you need our help.

Helen.

i am so sorry to hear this but as others have said your daughter's health must come first. hoping all goes well when the doctor calls. maybe a relative or friend could help out? have everything crossed for you. sending hugs and prayers :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: girls send :-* :-* :-*

Oh that's really awful for you. I would hold off on making any decisions until all tests have been done. It would be rotten for you if you did rehome the piggies and then your daughter's condition didn't improve anyway.

Good luck O0
