oveione

hi my sow tiger gave birth last night but none of the pups survived i fear she may have been in labour for to long and they where stillborn or very weak i tried to revive them but with no luck so now have a depressed mum am thinking about getting her a cage mate when would be the best time?

Oh no I'm so sorry. Thats tragic. (((hugs)))

I'd give her a time to get over the loss and when you think she is ready get her a friend. She was huge as well wasn't she? How many did she have? :0

I'm so sorry to hear about that, that is awful. hugs to you and your piggy.

I'm sorry i cant help, i only have boars, but ithink louise has given good advice. xx

Poor babe. Sorry to hear of your and poor mummy pigs loss. It must be heartbreaking. Hope mum pig gets over it soon and finds a nice friend xx

That's so sad. my thoughts go out to you. Give her lots of cuddles.

Awww I'm so sorry to hear this - must be heartbreaking to lose them all like this.:( I would leave getting her a friend for a bit until she gets over this.

That is absolutely heartbreaking.....I am SO sorry. Poor Tiger. :0 :0 :0

I would give her TONS of extra attention and cuddles, and then in a bit perhaps a new friend WOULD be fantastic for her. All the very best to you both. xxxxx

found another one when i cleaned the cage up so six altogether it was like she knew something was wrong because she just left them didnt break sacks or anything she has eaten a little veg this morning

keep an eye on her if she isn't eating perhaps call a vet or maybe start syringe feeding her. Hope she is ok. x

Poor little thing - sounds as if she did know something was wrong. I'm a great believer for not interfering in nature as more often than not mother nature is right.

I def think spoil her rotten, maybe give her some food enrichment activities to keep her mind active and try not to let her get depressed.

shes been munching hay and veg gave her a strawberrie which she devoured so think shes ok

It sounds as though the piglets where either still born or due to being ill experienced she didn't know what to do.
A few years ago I had a sow who gave birth prematurely and due to this non of the piglets where alive, she had cleaned them up etc. She became very depressed over the days that followed so I introduced her in with some younger sows and she picked up straight away.
My advice is to find a sow over the weekend, age doesn't matter as most sows are pretty good at accepting each other.

Good luck and keep an eye on her.
Emma x

thanks for you replys i think the babies where to soon as they where all tiny defiently thinking about getting her a friend if anyone knows of any that need a home :)

Oh Oveione, I am very sorry to just read this, because as you know, I have been following your postings in the pregnancy and labour section.

I hope Tiger is doing ok. Six was a huge litter for her to cope with but if she was young and/or it was her first litter that perhaps they either came quickly all at once or were just too tiny.
It is also very distressing for you, as an owner, so lots of hugs coming your way!

Bless her. I feel sure that she will perk up soon after a couple of days of TLC and lots of fresh veg etc.

thanks goldie I'm feeling ok just feel for tiger gonna hopefully get her a friend soon to perk her up as well
