Ok, so I'm no longer a guinea pig slave when we moved to London in July 2011 unfortunately we had to re home our boys Ollie and Stewie as we moved to a flat and there was no way they could come.

I keep having this recurring dream and I usually wake up crying.

Its based in the house I lived in as a child, we had a shed we kept our piggies in. I am the age I am now and head out to the shed for something and when I go in i suddenly remember I have piggies but forgot all about them.

The hutch is full of poo & dirt. No food or water nothing. Our two piggies are starving and weak and there's nothing I can do for them. I'm obviously distraught when I make this discover and blame myself. Then I wake up and realize its a dream.
Last time one of the piggies was Ollie, on other occasions it has been piggies that have already passed to the bridge.

I am missing having piggies terribly. Also for the first time in as long as I can remember I dont have a small furry mammal in the house.

Sorry for the long post but iv had this dream twice in the last week. I am thinking of looking to see if there are any rescue's in traveling distance that need help with piggies to see if that helps

Thank you to anyone who has read all this

Vicky

Gosh that sounds really distressing...I really hope you feel better soon.x
It could'nt hurt to look in a rescue for a piggie as long as you are allowed pets and have time for them and such :D

Poor you, dreams like that are awful. It's a good idea to see if you can help at a rescue, it'd help you get your piggie fix.

I have had similar dreams! I have them quite a lot. I'm usually living at home with my parents, but am grown up- like you describe and suddenly realise I have forgotten the animals for days, sometimes months. Sometimes it is piggies and rabbits, but sometimes it is a whole host of different animals, even aviaries full of birds, which I have never had in real life and lots of them are dead and dying and I feel so guilty and bad for forgetting them. I just put it down to anxiety, but it's interesting that you describe something very similar.

I hope you manage to find some rescue work so you can have piggy contact. :)

Poor you, sounds awful.

Just an idea, but if you can't physically get to a rescue to help, maybe you could sponsor a piggy? A lot of rescues offer sponsorship, and send out pictures and updates of the piggy that you're helping. I've paid for sponsorships for piggies for a few people in the past as birthday/Christmas presents and they are always well received :)

Margaret - Its exactly like you described and funny you mentioned anxiety as there is uncertainly regarding my job which seems to have sorted out but I have a job interview on Friday and I haven't had an interview in over 3 years so just a little nervous about that.
I am hoping to get it but equally I love the people i'm working with now.

Jelly Belly, That's a great idea thank you. I will take a look now

i feel for you. i have nightmares everytime i sleep (it's an anxiety thing) and some are so awful, and alot of the time are about the pets being dead, or attacked, just awful things. i have one which repeats itself alot, where a i can see a fox stalking them through some bushes and i am trying to get to them but the fox is faster. not nice at all.
