Just thought i'd share a short story that just happened...

The girls went out onto the lawn for the first time this year, only gave them about an hour to build them up. Went to catch them and thought i'd do the same as last year...so I turned one of the houses upside down, shuffled them in and started to carry them inside. Didn't account for the fact that they were only 6 months old last year...

Now this is totally my fault as I should have held it from the bottom, but the lid popped off and both piggies went tumbling. In my shock I also dropped the rest of the house, luckily this landed mostly on the step and my toe (and I have a lovely cut to prove it). Cue me panicking to scoop the girls up, at this point if they'd have run off i'd have had no way of catching them, they could have gone anywhere. Managed to get them both as I think they were a bit shaken, but them down in their pen in the living room and then checked them individually for any damage. Both were very quiet but everything felt okay and they weren't limping.

Went to get some cucumber as a SORRY gift and they both came wheeking up to the bars, so if their stomachs weren't full from the grass then they must be now! Just thankful that they both are fine as it was from quiet a height, i'm 5'7" and was holding the house waist height. Will keep my eye on them, but fingers crossed it was just a shock.

Anyone else got any moments that made you feel like a horrible piggyslave? Please say i'm not the only one who's had the misfortune to do something like this.

Aww what a horrible shock for you. These things do happen. Once I was putting Peronel in a play pen and she jumped landing on her face. I was so scared and kept her with me for ages worrying about concusion. Do not blame yourself. Your babies are fine.

We've all been there and done that! When the boys were really young - I think we must have had them for a month - I was starting my clean out routine, opened the cage and turned my back for one moment.... Cue frantic scrambling noise and a bit of a splat: Tango had jumped right up out of his cage to the floor! :yikes:
I almost died but he was fine other than a tiny bit shocked!

I put Edgar in his Pigloo upstairs whilst fixing the ramp in place.....turned around to pick up my tea and he jumped off the ledge to the bottom. Not too high but high enough to have an injury if he had landed funny.... hence the reason about my paranoia and ramps in case he jumps one day ...

When Elliot was younger (so about 3 years ago) I had put him and Oscar into a new lovely big cage. It was placed on a chest of drawers in my spare room upstairs. I had just been putting something in the cage and forgot to close the door on it, and the door was on the front of the cage, so I was just pottering about in and out of the bedrooms when I saw something brown whizz past my eye. It was Elliot! He had jumped out of the cage door (was about 3 feet off the ground), and he raced out of the bedroom and was stood at the top of the stairs. My heart was absolutely racing. If he was going to jump down the stairs, there was no way he'd survive, or at the very least have broken bones. So I didn't startle him further, I walked away into my bedroom, and luckily he followed me! I managed to catch him and apart from being shook up, he was absolutely fine! I wasn't, I was shaking and crying at the thought of losing my piggy!

Another time, I had the piggies out for free time and it had been a few hours and two had returned of their own free will back to their hutch, but one, Oscar, was still missing. I searched high and low for him, all the nooks and crannies, even chopped up a carrot and rustled their bag of hay as that usually gets them all in the kitchen wheeking loud as they can. Still, he didn't come. Another hour passed and my partner came home and the tears started rolling and I said that maybe Oscar had somehow escaped out of the front door into the big wide world. Just then, I spotted a roll of Oscars belly fat under the tv stand! So piggy and I were reunited. He was just all chilled out and was napping and relaxing it seemed! I felt like a bad mummy for losing him though!

I trod on Phoebe last night :( she ran right under my foot as I stepped across her cage.

Ha ha, Tbag, yours is like my Elliot. Do you think they thought they had a parachute attached to their backs?

I was letting the boys have their floor time in the kitchen as I tidied up around them. I was putting milk back in the fridge (obvious food place) and Gus crept up behind me expecting a treat. I didn't see him around my feet, I stood on him (not forcefully) then when I jumped out of the way, he moved at the same time so I ended up skidding him across the floor with my other foot! I felt so awful! I scooped him up and gave him cuddles and kisses as I checked him over. He licked my nose and was delighted when I gave him carrot as a sorry treat, so he was fine.
They don't half scare us sometimes!

not piggy related but I put my cat in her carrier this morning to go to the vets...thought id locked the door.
only to have my cat walk out of the carrier while I'm walking across the drive lol
