So one of my girls seemed to have hurt her legs in the week and was dragging both behind her. Naturally I took her to the vets, albeit not my usual vets, and well. After some checking, the vet couldn't say what the problem was. all she said was, she could have had a stroke (wrong!) she could have some muscle strain(wrong). I asked for an X-ray , nope will only do it with injection, I refused. The vet then went on to suggest being put to sleep - wtf?!

At this point I lost all faith, told her to give me painkiller. I was given metacam, 3ml only I then kicked off and instructed them that not only had they offered me the wrong dosage but gave me insufficient medicine. Now I might be short but boy I have a mouth on me. I kicked off and got a proper bottle of metacam and now she is taking her correct dosage. After lots of care she's now walking on all legs, she must have bruised herself badly, how I don't know. But either way she's making an improvement against the advice of a ridiculous vet.

Frankly had she not made an improvement after 2 days I know she would have been visiting Northampton.

I certainly WOULD NOT be going back to that vet. I would put in a complaint! Fancy suggesting putting your piggy to sleep when all she had was a bad leg! Unbelievable!

:(

Sending lots of healing vibes and a hug, well done for standing your ground there x

Sending hugs to you and your piggy. Good job you know what you are talking about. Sending tons of healing vibes, pleased to hear your girl is using her legs again. X

So glad she’s making an improvement. Lots of healing vibes to you 😍
(Gotta get a different vet next time, kris at Cheshire vet is great as I’m sure are many other exotic specialists)
Huge hugs x

I've had similar problems with vets in the past. I get the impression that many don't have a clue about anything other than cats, dogs and horses, which is where the big money is. At my last vets I was fobbed off many times and was quoted over £350 for an x-ray. I had an x-ray done this week including treatment and prescription for £70 at my cavvy savvy vet.

It irritates me when vets don't educate themselves on the animals they treat! I have kicked off a few times in the past with vets but thankfully haven't had a problem in a while. Glad your girly is improving!

Simon is on holiday from next Friday, so if you think you’re going to need an appointment, make one as soon as possible. It sounds like things are going okay so far.
Thank you for that. Very kind of you to mention it. My little girl is doing much better. Fingers crossed she continues x
