I often buy bagged salad for the humans in the family, but we don't always eat the whole bag. I often give the remnants to the guinea pigs for tea, unless it has iceberg lettuce in it. They seem happy enough but is it OK?

The one they ate today had lollo rosso, raddicchio, rocket and curly endive in it, and it vanished in about 2 minutes ;D

I think its ok as long as it doesnt have the dreaded iceburg in it lol

My piggies love it too, we are the same, never eat the wole bad and we are not keen on the old iceburg so the piggies are in luck :) They especially like the "crunchy mix" with lots of carrot in.

Mine had a field day over the last couple of days... I got all the leftover salad from a DIY buffet lunch at work. They ate like kings and queens!

Mine always have bagged salad but it doesnt really go that far ;D but they do have lots more on top of the bagged stuff :)

Mine have some if we've had it and have bits left over..used to buy some specially for them but if we don't eat it then it's goes to waste because it's too much for them to eat before it goes off.

Sometimes Tescos and the supermarkets have this reduced quite cheaply, quick look the bag and find theres no iceberg (and preferably not rambling onto someone you know who doesn't know you 98) and I got a few bags of this O0
They had some quite recently O0

I am the same if they are on offer or reduced I will buy them a couple of bags, they love it!
One day I got them a reduced bag and out came a packet of ceaser dressing, lol! They looked at it like whats that mam?
I remember a packet from Morrisons what they absolutly love, its got strands of beetroot in, some other supermarkets may have a similar mixture but my piggies love it!

Asda's Bistro Salad has beetroot strands in it & my lot go mad for it :) Tesco call it Beetroot Salad Mix (i think) :-\

I buy a bag every week when I do my grocery shopping! I buy whichever one has the most differnt kinds of greens in it, of course avoiding iceberg (I won't even eat iceberg!). My grocery store also sells collard greens and turnip greens in big bags. I go through a bag of that a week too, alternating each week on which one I get. Between the 2 piggies, the rabbit, and the bearded dragon, there's very little to no waste. I also get them parsnips (carrots are pretty high in sugar, so those are a rare treat, like I treat candy for my child), and they like rasihes too. A funny, I was checking out at the grocery store, and another customer saw my big bag of collard greens and asked how I prepare them. I told her "I don't know...I just feed it to the animals...." and she looked at me like I was insane! Wonder what she would have done if I told her "Well, I sprinkle some superworms on it and give it to the lizard..." LOL!

I often give mine the mixed salad bags - its especially helpful in the mornings when I'm rushing about trying to get organised for work. :)

i like the mixed bags from asda with the watercress, spinach rocket and other similar leaves in it. my piggers love it! had it twice now :)

There is no nutritional value in Iceberg, is very watery and could cause upset tums. :)

The bagged salad without iceburg is fine, but be aware that the prewashed is washed in chlorine.I try and get the bags that say "washed in spring water",but I still wash that before eating myself or giving to piggies.

I am afraid that a lot of food for sale in supermarkets would shock if people knew the truth. All we can do is read labels very thoroughly and try and research the ingredients.

I never buy non organic beans or other veg from third world countries because DDT which was banned years ago,is still allowed in parts of Africa .

Non organic bananas are sprayed with a wax chemical to prevent them going brown in transport.

I am lucky as I can get this in the clump it is grown in from my old fashion green grocers in town, mine love it, when I can not get intown we buy it from Asda or Sainsburys pre bagged.

I was always wary of giving my pigies bagged salads as i wasnt sure if they could have all the leaves in them, my mum buys some for her torts so i nicked a bit the other night and they loved it! :D

my local shop sells salad bags and it sells this broth veg mix basicly precut veg and leaves of cabbage and all the good bits so I'm going to be getting that

oh mine love any kind of bag saled (with out icebaey in) some of my pigges are not too sue about the beetroot bits but some love them
