Hi everyone!
On Monday I took Cookie and Cream to the vets for a checkup after a previous visit (both were sneezing) and I was given some new medication for them as Baytril wasn't working.
Anyway my boyfriend pointed out to the vet that there was white under Cookie's ear (it had been cut but had healed over) and the vet said it was ringworm.
So I've been given medication for both of them and they had injections (they have to go back soon for 2 more sets) and I was given a cream for Cookie's ear (the infected area)
They've both been taking the medication well (Cream doesn't even need to be held still at all!) and today I noticed that Cookie has lost some fur behind the infected ear (the infected area has cleared up a lot already) should I be worried about the hair loss?

If it is ringworm, then hairloss is to be expected and in fact it is best that the infected hair comes out. Do you know what the cream is? and what the injections were?

Imaverol dips are also effective at treating ringworm and some pigs need a course of oral anti fungal medication such as Itrafungol.

Not sure what the injection was but the cream is Surolan (got to rub the infected bit and around it)
the medication is Intrafungal
I also bathed them with Imaverol on monday but didn't get any of it on his ears
the medication for the sneezing is Septrin Paediatric.

I may be completely barking up the wrong tree here but piggies do have bald patches behind each ear in any event, so are you sue there has been new hair loss?

I'm sure a little bit has gone, I know he had a little bald patch, as well as Cream does too but today I noticed some more was gone!
But yeah I'm probably worrying about nothing!

If you can maybe post a picture of the ear, pigs do have bald patches there but that is not to say its not fungal as behind ears are common areas for fungal and as you say they could have lost more hair.

Must admit I did think about the usual bald patches behind the ear at first but as the pig has seen a vet I assumed it was fungal related instead. Glad he is on Itrafungol. Try to keep up with Imaverol dips and get it on the ears too, you can than apply the Surolan later, Imaverol is very effective on ringworm.

Ringworm always gets worse before it gets better as the infected hair around the affected area needs to come out; fungal sits often at the hair roots and can cause a re-infection if it is not removed. Your piggies are on the correct medication for ringworm, so your vet knows what he is doing! Imaverol is great for removing any affected hair! ;)

Please be careful with the hygiene, as ringworm is one of the few things that can transmit to humans and other other pets. I use F10 disinfectant and hand gel and wash any fabrics in contact with a ringworm piggy (including clothing of mine) at 60 C. The incubation period is 10-14 days.

Okay thank you so much! My mind is at rest now :)
Yeah I make sure to wash my hands after everytime I handle him
