So I just recently noticed a bald patch developing on my guineas nose and was just wondering if I should do something or its one of those that just go away with time. It's just a little patch of like rough skin i guess. It doesn't seem to bother him much. He stills squeaks and purrs and popcorns and all that normal happy guinea stuff. Any help would be aopreciated. Thanks (:

That looks very much like a fungal infection. As in previous post, i would contact Helen for advice or see a vet asap to get it treated & stop it spreading.

Sorry for the delay, was at a wedding reception last night. I agree it looks fungal but an official diagnosis by a vet is needed as symptoms of mange mites can be similar in the early stages. It could well be ringworm but there are many different types and Candida issues are rife at the moment due to the weather (if you are in the UK).

Here is a link to our ringworm guide

Please note that if the vet decides to attempt a culture only ringworm tends to show up using the standard method. It is also the only type of fungal to fluoresce under ultra violet light.

Please could you update your location in your profile as it helps us tailor our advice accordingly.

Sorry, I didn't fill out too much info. I literally made this account yesterday because this community seemed nice, and educated. Guess I'll get it checked out to make sure. Thanks for the help. :)
