Hi
I've only had my guinea pig 3 weeks (first time I've ever owed one) and tonight I have noticed a lump on the left of his face. Below his cheek but not quite in his throat. Reminded me of a hamster pouch. Tried to touch it but he didn't like that. It's the size of a peanut.
Combined with this he had a bald patch round his left eye, about the size of a 1 penny. Neither were there 2 days ago. Any ideas? Have read about it being fatty tissue, and have also thought he may have some food stuck (?) but with the bald patch in same area too worried it's something more serious.

Thanks
Gemma

There are all sorts of things it could be, but really to be safe you need to take him to a vet to get it all checked out, the bald patch could be him scratching, or a fungal skin condition, anything really! Take him as soon as you can so that whatever it is, it will get sorted quickly, good luck! :)

Hes needs to see a vet really. The lump could be anything from a bite abscess or tooth root abscess to a nasty growing lump. The baldness around the eyes is usually something like a fungal or mite infestation. Easily sorted with vet treatment. Let us know how you get on?

x.
