Can we catch a break 😫😫😫 just checking our 3 year old girl over and she has a bald patch under her skin and I’m not sure if I can feel a small moving lump under it. It’s obviously bothering her as she’s trying to scratch it but can’t reach. I’ll have to get her booked in but they don’t have any appointments for a few days. Has anyone seen anything like this before? I’m going out of my mind with worry again 😫😫 She had a lump thing under her chin a few months ago but it shrank after a week of Metacam so the vet didn’t think any further investigation or treatment was necessary.

I'm sorry this has now happened. I don't know what it could be. Good that you have a vet appt.

I hope she can be seen quickly and is soon feeling better. Sending healing vibes ❤️

She has a pea sized lump under there 😢 She had this in March which then shrunk down after a week on Metacam from pea to pine nut size so looks like that’s come back again. They’re really not sure what it could be.

What treatment plan have they offered?

Try Metacam again in the hope it will bring down the swelling and see again in a week. If that doesn’t work we’re looking at scans etc. I’m absolutely traumatised from Picchus experience of sedation/GA so I really really really hope it doesn’t come to that 😢😢😢

Fingers crossed it works. 🤞🏻

Sending healing vibes her way. ❤️

How is your girl now?
She’s ok, still herself and eating fine etc. slightly grumpy that pellets have come completely off the menu to aid her weight loss but coming to terms with it 🤣 she still has the bald bit under her chin and her chin is really saggy (scraping the floor). We’ll be back at the vets this week to see if the lump has come down with the Metacam. My thinking is it’s just a weird fatty thing as her chin is so saggy as well.

She is gorgeous, one of my favourite coats, silver agouti! Good luck at the vets, I hope you can get some answers.

I have cut down pellets from a hamster bowl between 3 every day to a hamster bowl between 3 only twice a week and Betty has lost 50g since her last weigh in at the vets this week. Would you say that’s normal weight loss for just cutting down pellets and no cause for concern and ‘good weight loss’ as she was on the chunkier side anyway? I’m just a bit concerned if this amount of loss could be caused by an issue rather than just the reduced pellets?

I would say it is the point where you start to weigh more frequently than weekly, if you aren't already. 50g is about a full bladder or tummy. If it continues to drop it is more concerning. What was her weight before you reduced the pellets?

She was 1.2kg

Reducing pellets is going to cause weight loss - whether it’s solely because of that is anyone’s guess.
I would weigh more frequently and see what happens over the coming todays
