Hi everyone,

Today when I was checking Hazelnut over I found a little bald spot on her belly with a little bump. The bump isn't like a nipple, it's very tiny. Any ideas on what it is? You can't see it very well in the pictures, sorry. I will take more if needed.

These bottom two are her nipples. I know as far as that. XD

This is the other picture. I wasn't able to attach two pictures to the first post on my iPod.

It is difficult to tell from the photos. Could it be her belly button? if not a sebaceous cyst is a possibility or a fatty lump, both of which would need checking by a vet. Fatty lumps can be harmless but not always.

You know what I've been checking over our two young males and found exactly the same - a tiny bald patch with a small bump rather like a nipple. On checking closer both piggies have one on both sides of their lower abdomen so relieved they both have them as anatomically I guess it's normal.... I'm guessing male nipples but will keep searching to confirm?

Oh my! I actually had no idea guinea pigs had belly buttons! Silly me. :)
I checked on Coconut too, but she didn't have that bald patch with a bump. So...does that mean Coconut's belly button is more hidden? Or does it mean Hazelnut has a fatty lump or sebaceous cyst?

And @Harry&Gordon, thank you so much for your reply. But the thing is, Coconut and Hazelnut are both girls! But it may be something related to your "case of the mystery bald patch with a bump". :P

All I can say if in dought get it cheeked out by a vet. Hope it turns out to be nothing.

Yes males do have nipples, sorry I thought you meant more in the middle earlier. It is likely the nipples that you have found.

Sorry was answering on my phone so the posts all blurred into one. In which case it is likely the belly button but if you are concerned at all best to get it checked.

Excellent, I'm going to look for belly buttons now too! Helpful to a novice owner thank you. Suppose it's good to get to know them and then makes it easier to identify any changes lumps or bumps that may occur later on.
