I've noticed Bubble has been kind of biting his front legs a bit recently and tonight ive noticed these bald patches on both of his front legs? But these havent been here before. Is this just normal?

It's hard too get a decent picture as Bubble is just not co operating tonight!

You know Bubble so well! He never likes too make it easy for me when I'm worrying haha!

I'm hoping it's nothing serious going on!

Hey,

Is it on the inside of his front leg?

I've wonder this before but i went on guinea lynx "Guinea pigs usually have bald spots inside the front legs (see photo at right), perhaps as a result of grooming, with the hair being continuously rubbed off by cleaning their faces and eventually failing to regrow." It's near the bottom you'll see a picture...

Hope this helps :)

Yeah, they are on the inside! Feel a bit less worried now!

Wonderful! :D

I love finding out I have nothing to worry about :D these pigs really have me worrying over nothing sometimes!

If they are on the inside of the front legs, they are likely normal (a lot of pigs have this from grooming.) But if they look sore or are spreading/increasing in size, it could be a fungal or other skin infection that needs to get checked out. Bald spots behind the ears are also totally normal (and are more noticeable on some pigs than others.)

I'm feeling better about it now! As they are on the inside of the leg. I think it's more of the biting his leg which was worrying me. But maybe that's just part of the grooming!

yep, i worried about Clemmie's bald leg patches as well, but guinea lynx put my mind at rest-she's just been an overzealous groomer!

If in doubt, please have it checked by a vet. Usually the front of the forelegs is bare from regular grooming.
Anything else, like in your picture should be looked at, especially if it is new. it can be just overgrooming but it can also indicate a skin problem of some sort. What it actually is, is always much more difficult to decide when it isn't a classic location and a textbook case - even more so from just a picture!
