Hey guys, so my guinea pig has this small bald spot above his eye and I did some research on it and found that it could either be mites, ringworms or a fungal infection. I also read that I can cure it with a special shampoo and so I gave him a bath using the shampoo. Would I need to take my guinea pig to the vet or would the shampoo heal it? 109250109251

That looks like a fungal infection to me of which ringworm is the most infectious. Bald patches from mites come from over zealous scratching/biting and is usually on the back and sides not the face. What shampoo did you use on it? I wouldn't have recommended a shampoo on his eye at all as that is likely very uncomfortable for him. We always recommend a vet visit first without home treating as anything put on the area may have an affect that can make it harder for vets to diagnose the cause of the problem (a bit like cleaning a crime scene). Also, depending on what you are dealing with a lot of over the counter products are simply not strong enough to deal with the likes of mite infestation and only help to make the mites more resilient to treatments and harder to get rid of
