My guinea pig has this bald spot and a small zit on this area , I noticed it just today and I think it has developed in the last 2 -3 days only , he's eating fine but he's a little dull today and feels painful and whines when we go near that area.
I am really concerned is there anyone who has experienced a similar thing with their guinea pig?. I will take him to a vet tomorrow till then can anyone help?

Hi! It looks like a nipple to me? Both genders have two nipples, which are surrounded by a small bald area. If that is the same on the other side, then there is nothing to worry.

However, sows and boars can both develop mammary tumours. If you notice changes underneath or around a nipple, especially if they are one-sided, please see a vet. If the area is painful, a guinea pig will self-barber (i.e. nibble and pull out the hairs where it is painful inside the body).

Let us know how it goes at the vet.
It’s much better to be reassured that it’s nothing to worry about than risk leaving a possible problem.

Certainly looks like his nipple to me, which is completely normal.

Thanks everyone for your insights ❤️
My guinea says thanks too in his cute squeaky voice :)

That's most likely a nipple... they are near the back legs in both boys and girls and have a hairless spot around them. Is there a corresponding one on the other side?

Thankyou 😃😃 yes there are two of them
