I recently rescued two boars that are about 4 or 5 years old. The one has a bald spot on his back. I was told it could possibly be from a past cyst by the person I got them from. Although they were her room mates guinea pigs so she wasnt sure. Any ideas? Or any ideas on how to possibly make it heal better? It looks pretty ok for the most part though.0624191825a.jpg

That will need a check over at vets make sure it has nothing brewing like fungal. Impossible to tell from photos unfortunately.

Any dandruff or cuts in the area?

Hi!

Please have that vet checked. It is impossible for us to tell wether it is mange mites, fungal or even hay mite related.
Treatment differs for fungal and skin parasites, so please do not home treat on spec with broad spectrum low dosed pet shop products that at the best can only temporarily suppress symptoms but not cure.

I planned on taking them to the vets when i have the money for it as it is expensive where i live. These babies werent planned and I hadnt had a chance to budget them in. There is no cuts or dandruff and the rest of his skin and coat actually look fairly healthy. To me this looks kind of like scar tissue?

It is impossible for us to tell from a picture without having a hands-on look at the spot, but it could be a burst and now healing sebaceous cyst if you feel that it is a healing site.

However, we can only guess and not diagnose reliably, which no online place can do; not that we are qualified to replace a vet visit.
