Hello everyone!

I’m new here but have had 2 of my piggies for nearly a year. My little baby girl Pepe has now for the second time appeared to be balding on her back and has 2 red dots on her skin, the first time this happened she didn’t have any red spots but balding the same and in the same area, it clear up on its own. She has now had a flare up again :( I don’t know what to do, she lives in a two story C&C cage with 3 other lady piggies who show no sign of what she is suffering with and didn’t the last time this happened. I have attached a photo so you can see it!

Hi
Please see a vet for a hands-on diagnosis, especially as there is a return. What breed is your piggy?

It could be a skin parasite, a fungal skin infection or ovarian cyst based hormonal hair loss without seeing photo.

Here is a photo I figured out how to do it!

I’m not sure the breed but I assume the usual common type of piggie, she’s about a year old I think. I got her and her companion from pets at home last November, she is registered with the PDSA pet hospital so I could take her there as money is tight for me but I hate to see her suffer. She doesn’t seem in pain, just occasional itching. None of my other piggies have any sign of what she has. I gave her a gentle comb today and inspected the rest of her fur/ body I can’t see any other issues just that area

Could you please feel the bald area gently. Is it smooth or can you feel the tiniest of stubbles?

It feels smooth but has like small about of flaky skin like dandruff

Please see your vet. I wanted to ask because of potential barbering/self-barbering because of the location. It could be that or mange mites but I am only guessing. Please don't home treat on spec with low dosed pet shop products.

Are mange mites bad? Bruno her companion used to eat Pepes fur, I was wondering if it could be that again but I’m not sure. Coco, twix and Bruno are all okay it is literally just affecting Pepe. Twix is the same type as Pepe, Bruno is a teddy piggie and coco is a Abyssinian piggie
