What conditions are best to store a bale of hay in? We have a coal thingy outside which is basically just a waterproof wooden box which of course isn't used in the summer, do you think that would be okay to keep a bale of hay in?

Ideally wants to be off the ground on something like a pallet and then stored either somewhere waterproof or else under a tarpaulin to keep the rain off.

Okies coolios, so if I got a pallet and put it in the thing that could work? I'll get dad to bring a pallet home from work if it will be okay like that.

also you need to keep it somewhere dry and not humid otherwise it will start to get mould on it if it gets damp

If your coaley thing is waterproof then the bale in there on a pallet should be fine. If there is space round it for air flow too that would be even better.

I sometimes keep mine in the recylcle garden bin in a big black bin bag ,or at the mo its in the outhouse

thanks both of you!

jodie - yep it is waterpoof

Shaz - hmmmmmm.....wonder if we've got anything like that lying around not being used...thankies
