Bananas

I'd read somewhere online that Guinea pigs like banana's. I thought, no way that can't be right! I looked into it and decided to try mine with it. I have got 6 pigs, they all like/eat it but Bert just loves it, his little eyes light up when he sees banana lol.

They have banana once/twice a week.

Does anyone else feed it to your pigs?

Yep, my girls love it too! In fact they had some last night! |)

They only have it occassionally though as I believe it is quite high in sugar

My girls used to have it but only as a treat infrequently because of the potassium content.

Mine love bananas, especially Gucci. It saved my life last night - Chester wouldn't eat anything so I mashed up banana and syringed it to him. It's high in sugar I think, so shouldn't be given in large amounts, but possibly it's a good thing for sick pigs!

my boys love bananas they only have a small amount but their noses go up as soon as i open the banana

I give a small bit of banana as a treat every now and then. It is very sugary and high in potassium. Too much can also constipate them

However, it is something to treat a sick guinea pig that needs eating or taking some medicine. It is also good for when your piggy has the runs!

Mine get it as a treat maybe once a week a thin slice each -with peel. They love the peel most and will eat that first .
