Yesterday two of my piggies got into a scuffle and one was bitten on the bottom of the foot. I stopped the bleeding, washed it, swabbed on some antibiotic ointment, and folded a bandaid over the injury so it wouldn't get dirty. Now it's the next day, and I'm having trouble removing the bandage to check on the injury and put more ointment on it. The adhesive has stuck to the fur on the top of the foot and thee guinea pig yelps whenever I gently try to unstick it. What's the best way to cleanly remove the bandage so I can check on the injury, and what's a better way to wrap it up that won't get stuck again or fall off?

Perhaps try and soak piggies foot in Water. You don’t really need the band aid. And what’s the antibiotic ointment you used? Was it from a vet or shop bought? You have to be careful with some things. Salt in some boiled and cooled water is a good one to use.

Please don’t use such dressings on a guinea pig. If the wound is otherwise minor, keeping it clean and dry (changing bedding regularly etc) but without putting such a dressing on. If it is a bad cut, then a check by a vet may be necessary.

I am in contact with the vet now. The antibiotic was a q-tip of Neosporin that the vet advised me to use last time one had an injury.

OK. Not saying it's safe to use on a pig.

Please check with someone.

But when a plaster gets stuck on my skin, baby oil helps loosen it. Maybe if there's a safe oil to use on pigs?
