well it seems after 7 days on the oxbow orchard grass Bandit knows exactly what that bag is when i do the refills, the last few times i even go near the bag he is wheeking so loud it almost hurts my ears, its strange though none of the other boys do this,i figure this hay must be extra special as it kept Boris's spirits high when Laura sent me some to try, does anyone else piggies act like this particulary with the orchard grass?

Uh oh, sounds like Bandit is converted! You'll never be able to get away with anything less again. :))

I think the novelty has worn off a little for mine. They've been exclusively on the Orchard Grass for 4 months. I am feeling slightly faint as I have just realised that in the space of four months they have managed to get through £120 worth, and 44kg, of hay...luckily it's worth it though, they barely waste any and it's a great quality hay. I couldn't justify it otherwise!

My lot have their hay columns stuffed full and they get a handful on the floor of the hay tray twice a day. All the hay on the floor is gone by the time I top up, so it does go down very well.
The pigs wheek at anything that might be food, so no comparisons to Bandit's "Orchard Grass wheeking" from here. It's lovely to hear how much he is enjoying it. :)

yes he is converted.i checked the actual price, and that size bag you sent me laura is what we get here and its in your money 10 pounds a bag:...,they went through a whole bag between 8 in just one day(yesterday) so thats 10pounds of hay a day,its so expensive but they now wont touch any meadow hay lol,i went to the vets this morning(the only place that stocks orchard grass in my town) and grabbed two more bags,i asked if they had more and they said "No and we have just found out your order is two weeks away"! so I'm worried because i will run out what am i going to feed them lol
When i picked up Cooper from rescue they gave me a bag of oaten hay and the pigs seemed to like that so i may grab a bale and use that too,
i was thinking because of the high cost of the orchard grass i may do half oaten half orchard grass in future, what do you think?
well its scary just today they have all gone through around 3 hay mangers eachrolleyes, ive never seen any piggy eat this much hay,i hope the novelty of it wears off a little soon like it has with yours!

And I thought it was expensive over here! The price of the bag I sent you was about half what you are paying. I really wish I could buy you a 22kg box and send it over but would dread to even imagine the postage. @)

A mixture of hay is good. It should encourage them to eat even more, which is always a good thing with hay!

thanks, yes its quite shocking, considering I'm getting two more it will only get more expensive, the vet receptionist did say we can order it in bigger but not quite as big as what your getting, ill do the mixture then as it will be a little easier on the wallet especially seeing as my piggy family seems to be forever expanding,Tony is worried about when we pick Blade and Rajah up,Glynis and i are going to the rescue and tony is probably going to go out for the day and he said "i shudder to think how many you will come back with",I'm going to try stop myself but when she has 120 pigs it will be hard:)).
