I think my lovely Banner is starting to feel his age. He's still maintaining his weight and eating plenty, plus we had a vet check up and they can't find anything wrong. He is just a lot quieter than he used to be. Spends a lot more time wrapped in his blanket (he's made a tunnel with his blanket inside his play tube and likes to sleep in there). I've not noticed any signs of wet on him from him staying in bed more; but have lined that area with vet bed just in case. He seems very bright and healthy, just a bit quieter than he used to be.

He will be around 7 years old now 💕

Oh gorgeous Banner, you really are blooming stunning  Can’t believe he’s around 7 already bless his little cotton socks.
I really found with my oldies RB Jess and Rupert that they slept a lot more, I’d offer food right next to them etc to make sure they were munching enough as sleep seemed far more important! When Luigi joined Jess after losing Rupert it sort of dawned on me how old she really was, seeing that young loon bolting about!
It’s great he’s maintaining his weight (but I’m sure a few extra treats are needed just because :) ), he still looks like a very handsome youngster to me! And definitely knows how to keep himself comfy with his blanky-tunnel bless him!:hug:xx

It’s good to know it’s just a normal sign of ageing 🥰 he had some treats in his blanky-tunnel this morning 🥰

Hope you are all well! xx

Sure he’s got plenty of happy piggy life left in him bless him! :luv: That sounds like a brilliant little bed, I want a human sized one! :) Sending him lots of love!

We’re good thanks, hope you all are! :) About to go and feed the silver fox, feels like I only did it 5 minutes ago! Sending hugs to you all (and sloppy kisses to Koda!) xx

Banner you are still a gorgeous boy!:love: You maybe aging but you are aging with style! I like the sound of a blanky-tunnel all nice and snug and warm. Luuuuuurvly!

Banner's a very good age - and still very handsome! 🥰

Have you tried whether a little metacam would make a bit of a difference? It often does for mine.

Older piggies generally love extra warmth. I often half-heat a snugglesafe for my oldies for the day as they sleep more and I also still give a heated snugglesafe for them at this time of the year for the night; especially my arthritic piggies who do no longer move around as much.

On very hot days they love plonking on a regularly changed snugglesafe from the fridge - it is just gently cool but not as chilling as a frozen bottle of water. Oldies need more protection in hot weather as their body struggles to cope with intense heat and the ups and downs of sudden spikes. It can tip an already precarious balance.
PS: I find that a microwaveable snugglesafe pad fits nicely under a fleece cave both in hot or cold weather.

Thanks @Wiebke I will definitely try all of these ideas 🥰 He was first to run over and greet me this morning. I’m so happy he’s enjoying his senior years 😊
