Last night Smokey was biting the pars from about half past six to seven.

Is there any way at all I can stop this?

I will mention that we ran (completely) out of hay, the big box was downstairs and I figured I wouldn’t need to get it as I would be getting up soon anyway.

Hi!

I would say, just put as much Guinea pig safe items for your piggie to chew on, or play with as biting the bars can be a sign of boredom.

You can use things such as:
- Sticks from an apple tree or pear tree (willow wood also works well)
- Chew balls (you can get these anywhere)

They’ve got loads of toys to play with, so it can’t be boredom, they get duvets and beds and every toy under the sun until they destroy them 😂
They get spoken to and lap time very often too

(I’m about to refill their hay)

Harry always bites the bars when he knows it's nearly dinner time! It's like he is reminding me!

My boy Finn bites bars also. Finn or Lara never run out of Oxbow hay as I stock up as much as 17kg for my two piggies. They also have veggies three times a day and plenty of toys to chew on.

I take him out of his cage and put him in his playpen then he popcorns. I also take him out for playtime and lap time. I take him out of his cage often and give him variety. When I put him back in his cage, he popcorns so I always thought he likes variety.

I always thought he is biting bars because of Lara who lives near him but it sounds like they do it regardless of whether a girl is around or not.

Here is 2.55kg hay bag and I have 7 bags, which is about 17kg of hay. I get them shipped to my home and I also buy them when I visit the pet store and see them on sale. I have never run out of hay for my two piggies.
I have run out of herbs like parsley and cilantro before but I have never run out their veggies either.
