Went into B&Q yesterday and they have this ...

Looks like it would be fabulous for velcoring/ducktaping/stapling to the outside of hutches and then covered with a water proof covering. It's HUGE, really thick and seems like it will be perfect ... especially for £5.99

It was flying out of the relatively quiet B&Q though so I'd be quick if you want some!

They also had boot liners for £1 which are the perfect size for putting a bale of hay in without getting it all over your car:)

Hi,

sounds great but can't click on link?.......

It won't let me post the whole link for some reason but if you copy all of the stuff in bold and paste it into the address bar it should work :)

I know you shouldn't bump up threads but this is in peoples interests and I want to make sure everyone sees it!

BUMP!

Planning on making them little dressing gowns out of it? :))

:(|) I just had a mental picture of that! I think it could be a great idea and another line to add to your range! After you've made a snuggle sack for my girls, if there's enough left over fabric, could you try making them dressing gowns as well if I give you their measurements :(|)

I used this last year for my boars very warm and insulating but I must put a word of warning to both owners and pigs:

The stuff on the inside is very harmful, dusty and when attaching it to your hutch wear a mask and long sleeved clothing (it makes your arms itch!) make sure the silver lining part doesnt become ripped and loose as the fibres will make your piggie ill. Make sure the pigs cant get too it to chew too.

Just a word of warning! Otherwise it is a brilliant insulator you just need to be careful with it :)

I was going to say the same. The stuff inside is very VERY itchy. My other half uses it at work and comes home scratching

Sounds like that horrible fibre glass stuff ?/
Makes me itch just thinking about it :(

I asked my dad if it was that and he said it was. It's really not healthy to breathe around because it's so itchy, imagine that in your lungs :...

But I guess it depends how you go about fitting it and securing it adequately to hutches so they can't breathe it in.

It's ideal though :)

Ooh thanks. Don't think I'll be using it.

Oh no I didn't realise it was fibre glass! I did wonder why my dad said we'll get my uncle (a builder) round to do it, I presumed he meant for an extra pair of hands but obviously not. This is actually all covered in foil, so I presume the only place the fiber glass will be exposed will be where I cut it, which I guess could then be duck taped up.

For £6 I'll give it a go and if I'm worried about the safety of it all I obviously won't be putting it anywhere near my babies hutches!

Please be VERY careful with this, if humans inhale it it can cause serious health issues and it only takes a small hole for the dust to get out. You think shavings are a bad dusty bedding, they are healthy compared to fibreglass!

We dismissed this today and went for reflective radiator backing instead, and some plastic sheeting to make 'double glazing' with :)

Yeah that stuff is pretty unhealthy, shame, otherwise they would be a perfect hutch cover!

I use pluming insulator/radiator backing cut to size with tarpaulain wrapped around and over my hutches, with fleece and doubled up plastic sheet over the frount to keep it snuggly <3
