I just thought id mention this to those who shop at morrisons, see if they have a second's section in the fruit and veg department.. i went in today and got:

Kale should have been 98p - bought for 45p!

Whole Red Cabbage should have been 66p - bought for 35p!

Purple Sprouting Brocolli should have been £1.59 - bought for 35p!

Deffo worth keeping an eye out - the piggies are loving their feast lol

I always pop into my big tescos late at nigh as they start reducing the veg as it has a display until date and a use by date the use by date is usually four days after the display until by date. Like the sweet heart cabbage i brought last night in date till the 8th yet knocked down to 40p because of the display until date bargin

I know, and if you ask they'll keep cabbage leaves for you! i get them all the time, and so do my collegues as lots of us have piggies x

Anyone have a Tesco's who will give out the husks from sweetcorn/corn on the cob? I've heard so many people say their local supermarket gives them the 'leftovers' e.g. cauliflower leaves, but I'm too scared to go and ask!

No need to be scared - the worst they can say is "no" but it's very likely they'll be perfectly helpful.

I was in a tea room recently and walked past the kitchen where they were peeling carrots. There was a huge pile of peelings on the side so I asked if I could have them. My sons were with me and you didn't see them for dust. They were so embarrassed that their Mother could do such a thing! But I got a huge bag full of peelings which lasted my 17 g.pigs about 4 days!

to be honest, i think they're happier to give them away than keep them in their bins! plus, with the credit crunch it's a good way of saving a couple of pounds a week

I allways get a ginormous box of veg from the greengrocers. Ive got 2 whole cabbages in this one! Aswell as all the loose leaves and a ton of cauliflower leaves. My mum dosnt see whats wrong with some of the stuff weve got before and cooks it for tea:))
