i bought some barley grass seed form ebay, and i got my dad to put them in some trays for me.
he grew 3 lots at different times, so when one tray is eaten down i can give them the other tray.

My question is, can i give them grass every day.
is too much grass not bad for them.

thanks

I grow barley grass too and give it every day and mine love it O0

yeah i have been giving it to them every day, but just wondering if that is too much for them.

Barley Grass is high in Protein on the first cut as well as other minerals. You could only 'overdose' on it if they are not used to it or are already ill. The second cut (if you get one) is far inferior nutrition wise.
I am trying to feed as much Cereal Grass as possible to my own guineas and the rescues :)
Always have Gripe Water and Infacol to hand- just in case...

what do you mean by the first cut and second cut.
i have grown them in seed trays.
so when it is about 3 inches high i put the trsy in their cage and they eat it all
then i water it again and wait till it grows, in the mean time i will put the other tray in the next day.

how do i know if i have overdosed them on it or it is making them ill.

first cut = first time you cut it ehrn it has all the nutrients in it

Second time you cut it/second cut will depend on your compost/fertiliser otherwise it will not be as nutritious (18-20%) Mine are grown in seed trays too, sometimes I cut it with scissors and sometimes I put the trays in.

If they get diarrohea or Bloat then they are 2 signs of 'overdose' but they could also be a host of other things. Make sure you always feed with hay and introduce gradually :) Feed clean grass (of course). I'm sure they'll be fine :) Guineas are fairly hardy little people, just monitor whats going on and look for any changes :) Above all enjoy your Guineas :)
